Can I borrow a laptop computer from the library?

Answer

Media and Technology Support Services (MTSS) administers a self-service laptop loaning kiosk located in the lobby of CAB by the entrance to the Van Houten Library. Laptops, and chargers for devices (mobile phones, tablets, etc.), can be borrowed for 5 hours at a time and should be returned at the kiosk. A current NJIT ID, with an RFID enabled chip, is needed to use the kiosk.

Students who demonstrate financial hardship specific to technology services are invited to contact Ms. Patricia Vansassenbrouck (patricia.vansassenbrouck@njit.edu) in Student Financial Aid Services. Ms. Vansassenbrouck will evaluate all forms of aid the student may be eligible for that may be applied to technology resources.

For NJIT faculty, staff, and student organizations, MTSS has a limited number of laptops to be signed out. Sign outs are first come-first serve and will be prioritized for instructional use. Usage policies typically limit the borrowing duration to one day or overnight use.
